PROJECT 3: CONCEPTUAL IDEAS & INSPIRATION
I have decided to have an art gallery base on origami and other contemporary forms of Paper art. Inspirations from these 2 artist below:
1. Sipho Mabona: Website
2. Peter Callesen: Website
The amazing paper origami and clean cut-out art at scales from hand size pieces to large installations are to be displayed in the Newtown gallery.
The static forms of paper is something we can all relate to as it is a material that is used by many people on a daily bases, but these two artists manage to turn them into something that is incredibly life like.
The idea of FOLDING, CREASING and CUTTING have given me ideas to explore and create spaces that have these qualities. These concepts will be applied to control access and circulation of the gallery, tweaking of nature lighting and volumes of space designed to enhance the artworks and overall atmosphere.
